Yay! For at least another year, the amendment that would allow the U.S. government to make laws prohibiting flag burning is history.

NOTE: the above links were no easy task; all of the GPO documents are stored on a WAIS server, and the links that you get off of their search page are temporary, and keyed to the state of your search. Luckily, the GPO provides a way to hack together permanent links into their database, but nothing is as easy as it seems.

• Posted by: Sexy... on Dec 8, 2003, 3:41 PMI completely agree that burning the flag is morally wrong i believe it shows disrespect towards america…however it is a form of freedom of speech and that is partially what america is about. Freedom of speech should be respected as well. But yea i am doing a debate on this subject and i need more info seeing as stupid people blocks the “useful” sites so if u have any info send it my way….THANX
• Posted by: kiwi strawberry on Jan 13, 2004, 1:56 PMI would, in all sincerity, much rather see a law which forbids, say, auto dealers, from prostituting the American flag as an advertising tool, than one banning the burning of the flag.
