Anil is a damn funny little teetotaler. Trust me, you gotta go read this; hell, then, cut-and-paste it into your mail program as an automated reply to your friends who forward a few too many “funny” emails.

Sheesh. I guess I just didn’t find it funny… Sad? Yes. Funny? No… and sad at so many levels: Sad that Anil has received enough unsolicited rubish to ellicit such a response; sad that he has that much vitriol to spew; sad that he had the wherewithal to sit down, write, edit (it’s too well written to be a first draft), and post it.
I’m not complaining, actually — what are blogs for, if not to post the occassional rant? I’m just, well, I’m just sharing my opinion I guess… because, hey! what are comment areas for?

Heh… funny you would say that. I have been a bit reticent of late to show my curmudgeonly side, since I think it misrepresents me a bit. (“I’m a lover, not a fighter!”) But I really don’t have that much vitriol to spew, I just have a penchant for going off on a tangent pretty easily.
As for editing… Well, regular readers of my site know that I pretty much don’t edit anything. It’s gotten me in trouble a few times, but I like the fun of that. This particular rant was written a while ago after a conversation with a friend who was more perturbed than I was. I actually don’t get much fram. What you see there is exactly how I wrote it in about five minutes, so there’s probably typos and stuff.
I’m full of mirth and happiness— really!

• Posted by: Jason Levine on Aug 24, 2001, 12:01 AMWell, Anil… you know that you’re the cat’s pajamas in my dresser… so no offense meant. Besides… it’s been ages since we co-opted someone’s comments area!
• Posted by: Vis10n on Aug 24, 2001, 12:02 PMThat’s a good point, and don’t worry, I took no offense. I’ve had the same “How much free time does this guy have?” reaction to a lot of stuff I’ve seen on the web. But co-opting message boards is a much better use of our time. And who better to co-opt than Jason? (Secret: I hate that guy!)
So, what’s the good word in your neck of the woods?
• Posted by: Anil Dash on Aug 24, 2001, 1:43 PMAnil, dude, I’m with you, man. Any friend who sends me a 4 MB MPEG of that damned exploding whale is no friend at all.
• Posted by: Mo Nickels on Aug 24, 2001, 4:51 PM(Oh, hey! Look… Jason’s on vacation! What a great opportunity to co-opt… )
So anyway, my neck of the woods are just fine: it’s August in Provo, which means thunder showers, 100 degree heat, wildfires (we’ve had some absolutely _beautiful_ pyrotechnic displays in the mountains around town this summer!), and the crush of 30000 students coming back to town for the start of school.
Aside from that, I recently realized that it’s been a full year since I was last out of this town (not counting my weekly drive to Salt Lake City), and I’ve got the itch for a little travel. I’m thinking LA and NYC…
Speaking of NYC, Anil, how’s you’re neck of the woods?
