Will Charles Heston’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease force him to give up his guns? Two media sources — Slate’s Bryan Curtis and the New York Daily News’ Rush & Molloy — quote the same California attorney general spokeswoman to come to opposite conclusions. It’ll be funny to watch if Heston takes up the cause of the right of demented people to bear arms…

i am least hoping that maybe Mr. Heston will forget why he supports them (guns that is) so much. think its possible? probably not with the NRA there to make sure he gets brainwashed back into the oblivion of ignorance.

i’m sure he is a wonderful man and i am sorry for this disease that has taken over him.

(supposed to be studying, therefore i am procrastinating)

Linzey you should be ashamed of your self. The NRA is a fine organization and Charles Heston is a good person.

Sinceraly, i hope that MR. Heston; give up the support his giving to guns, and start thinking with his head; a learn something that its more important than guns like LIFE. And to ryan he is the one who should be ashamed because you promote the use of guns like its something easy… the bad use of them HAVE KILL a lot of innocense people… but i think people like Ryan havent loose somebody and know what its that feeling.

You people are really sick, would you laugh and poke fun of a person dying of cancer or laugh at a blind person stumbling across the street. I though liberals were supposed to be compassionate? Muslims killed alot of people with an airplane but I dont see you liberals trying to ban airplanes

William, you’re a bit nuts, no? We’re not making fun of him; we’re pointing out that people who don’t have control of their faculties shouldn’t have any reasonable need for a gun.

In addition, you think that there’s a need for a new corollary to Godwin’s Law — pointlessly using 9/11 to engender support for your cause immediately ends a conversation?

I agree with Emily on this.

On the issue of Mr. Heston, I agree that people suffering from severe dementia and the likes should be disallowed access to guns. On the other hand, I think he’s a sensible person, and not quite off in his ideas.

I think Marissa is over the edge; it’s not decent to critizise a man like that, he’s got more life wisdom than you, I am sure. And woouldn’t you like to be the one holding the gun, if a burglar broke into your home?

I am not endorsing casual and random use of firearms, rather I think that they have a purpose, and can be used for relative good.
