I hope that TrackBack vs. PingBack doesn’t become another source of much discord in the weblog community. (Given the surfacing of a certain player and his random, factless opinions, though, I’m less optimistic that war can be avoided.)

Bah. I’m likely going to implement Pingback in the next week or so and support both it and TrackBack on my site - it’s not like Pingback is some massive rocket science investment (for a hacker like me anyway). Hell, I’m even thinking of how I can merge the pings from both channels into my comment system.

I think the main “war” comes from the “no comments at all” camp versus the “comments are essential” camp. Personally, I like both TrackBack and PingBack, and though I might be missing something, I don’t see a lot of animosity between supporters of both.

But then, discord flourishes over the tiniest of details, so what do I know? :)
