Wow, do I want me a Leica D-Lux. Over three million pixels on the CCD, a Leica-fabricated lens with 3X optical zoom, an aluminum body, unlimited video time, USB 2.0, and two lithium ion batteries — it’s an amazing package, and it very well may replace the Leica Digilux 1 as the digicam I would least mind seeing show up on my doorstep. (And if my impending graduation from my pediatrics residency isn’t reason enough for someone to send it to me, then I don’t know what is!)

Mmmm, pocket-sized. Don’t see prices anywhere though.

Jason, you may want to research a bit more. I hear it’s merely a pricey redesign of the Panasonic DMC-F7 or one of the newer versions of that camera.

sorry, not the F7…I’m getting confused. I think the LC20 and the DLux are the same body? Anyway, note that they’re sharing resources.

The lens was designed by Leica, but not manufactured by them. It was probably fabricated in China, like most pricey German optics. If you want an overpriced German lens, you’d do better with a model like the 5MP Contax TVS.

I love Leica cameras but they, and every other maker, are playing catch-up with Canon — in this particular class, the G3. Even the new digital Elph may be a better choice and it does inspire lust although it may not set you apart in a crowd.

is it faster, better, price is not the issue for me…
