Today was a very special birthday… for Suzie, a 2003 Subaru Outback Limited. (Not coincidentally, it is also my first day owning a car.) The arcane laws of the Great State of Massachusetts made it necessary to actually drive to Massachusetts to acquire Suzie, but that’s all behind me now, and tonight, she’s tucked safely into a space in a Manhattan garage. It’s a little overwhelming to own my first car (and to think about the payments that start in a mere 30 days), but all things said, I’m totally happy, and can’t wait to break her in a little bit.
I believe Subaru sells more cars in New England than in any other part of the country, so you should fit right in up here (as long as you have a parking space).

• Posted by: Alastair Battrick on May 30, 2003, 4:41 PMCongratulations on obtaining your first car! And you’ve done a great job of it - Subarus are the best cars out there (I’m on my second: a ‘97 Legacy GT sedan, which I love dearly).
To add to David’s Subaru sales statistics, Subaru is the #1 selling car in Alaska.

• Posted by: alison on May 31, 2003, 12:32 PMThat sure is one cool car.
• Posted by: Vegard on May 31, 2003, 2:38 PMCongrats from the land where Subies are born! My last car was a Subie WRX Wagon and I loved it! Fuji Heavy Industries is the company behind Subaru (which, incidentally means The Pleadies, and if you look at the logo of Subaru, you’ll see that constellation.) The new Legacy was just launched last month in Japan - awesome!
Related only by name, the name of the Japanese National Obeservatory on the top of Mauna Kea, Hawaii, is also Subaru.
