Some geek-related stuff:
- I’m happy to see not only that there’s a new website syndication format in the works, but that Sam Ruby has been given the green light by IBM (his employer) to work on it fulltime and that SixApart has hopped into the arena with a promise of complete support. (I also like the proposed logos…)
- I find it funny that, at current count, six of the people pledging support for the MSNBot search boycott can’t possibly participate, given that they have sites that live at subdirectories of their servers (e.g., http://example.com/subdirectory/), and the robots.txt file that they are using to participate is only valid at the server’s root. (Hint, guys: there’s also a valid META tag for robot exclusion, although it’s unclear how many search engines respect it.)
- Ummmm, yeah, I guess you could count me in on buying a DVD player and recorder that has TiVo built into it. It’d be awesome to be able to dump movies and entire seasons of series onto DVDs; I think I might have to wait until these are out to buy my second TiVo. Of course, at $1,100-plus, I might have to wait a while.
