Holy crap — Randy Johnson pitched a perfect game last night! He’s the seventeenth to have done it in the majors, and at 40 years old, he’s also three years senior to the prior record holder for the oldest (Cy Young). Totally amazing.

I’m tempted to say that no-no’s and PG’s are overrated, but that’s really unfair. They’re extremely rare. I think it requires a lot of luck—even a pitcher like Johnson, who strikes out a lot of guys [that was the most K’s ever in a PG or no-no, IIRC]—because the defense has to get to the balls that are put in play.

I hate that the pitcher gets all the credit.
